The French Education Ministry said Tuesday it was targeted in a cyberattack that led to a leak of students' personal data.
The breach stemmed from the impersonation of an authorized staff member’s account at the end of 2025, giving attackers access to a student account management service linked to EduConnect, the ministry said.
The affected service has been suspended as investigations continue to determine the extent of data compromised.
Following the breach, the ministry reset access codes for inactive accounts and strengthened security measures.
Accounts already activated are, according to the ministry, not affected by the leak.
This attack comes a month after a previous leak affecting approximately 243,000 employees of the Education Ministry, mostly teachers.
