In meeting with Israeli counterpart, Denmark's Rasmussen stresses need to find solution through diplomatic means
PRAGUE, Czech Republic
Denmark’s top diplomat expressed concerns over the escalation of hostilities on the Israeli-Lebanese border and called for a cease-fire in Gaza.
On X on Wednesday, the Danish Foreign Ministry said Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen discussed “the deeply worrying escalation between Israel and Hezbollah along the Israeli-Lebanese border with (Israel’s Foreign Minister) Israel Katz.”
In the Tuesday meeting, held on the margins of a NATO summit, Rasmussen underlined the need to find solutions through diplomatic means and reiterated his push for a cease-fire
“The foreign minister underlined need to find solution through diplomatic means. Also reiterated urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza and release of all hostages,” said the statement.
The Israeli army on Wednesday announced that it had attacked air defense facilities and ammunition storage for the Palestinian group Hezbollah group in overnight raids on southern Lebanon.
Tensions have risen along Lebanon's border with Israel amid cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv presses ahead with its deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed over 38,000 people since last October, following a Hamas attack.
