The European Union will introduce temporary trade preferences for Armenia from Oct.10 to support Armenian producers and exporters affected by recent trade restrictions imposed by Russia, the European Commission announced on Friday.
The measures, which will remain in force for two years, will temporarily liberalize almost 80% of Armenian exports to the EU, including nearly all exports of fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers affected by the Russian restrictions.
More than 91% of Armenian beverage and spirits exports will also benefit from the preferences, the statement said.
The arrangement aims to "alleviate the difficult situation faced by Armenian producers and exporters and support the resilience of Armenia's economy by facilitating access to the EU market."
Since May 2026, Russia has enforced comprehensive trade restrictions on essential Armenian exports, including alcoholic beverages, mineral water, fruits, and vegetables.
