Euro area jobless rate down to 6.6% in July
Number of unemployed in eurozone decreases 77,000 from a month ago, according to official data
ANKARA
The euro area unemployment rate was down to 6.6% in July from 6.7% a month ago, the EU statistical office said on Thursday.
The number of jobless people in the single-currency zone fell by 77,000 from June, hitting 10.98 million in July, Eurostat data showed.
The figure was 7.7% in July 2021.
Nearly 2.2 million people under the age of 25 were unemployed in the euro area, bringing the youth unemployment rate in the month to 14.2%.
The unemployment rate for women fell to 7% in July while it was unchanged at 6.3% for men.
The EU unemployment rate was 6% this July, down from 6.1% a month ago.
Some 12.96 million people were jobless in the 27-member bloc as of July, down by 113,000 month-on-month.
