Greek earthquakes: More seismic activity in Peloponnese, Cyclades islands

ATHENS 

Greece on Tuesday saw more seismic activity in the southern region of Peloponnese and Cyclades islands, southern Aegean Sea.

The seismic activity, which started in and around the islands of Amorgos and Santorini about three weeks ago, continues to shake the area. An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale occurred in the port town of Kyllini in the Peloponnese, according to the Geodynamics Institute of the National Observatory of Athens.

The earthquake with a depth of 18.7 kilometers (11.7 miles) struck around 7 p.m. local time (1700 GMT) and was strongly felt also in the port city of Patras.

No casualties or material damage were immediately reported.

According to the institute, of the dozens of tremors between Santorini and Amorgos, four of them measured more than 4 on the Richter scale.
