Four border security guards were arrested for torturing and complicity in the torture of a migrant at the Amygdaleza pre-removal detention center in central Attica region, the Ministry of Citizen Protection said on Friday.

The ministry said in a statement that an investigation was launched on a complaint filed by a migrant who said he was beaten by two border guards while two others watched.

The Greek Police's Internal Affairs Service arrested them and transferred them to the competent prosecutor's office for judicial proceedings.

The beaten migrant was taken to a hospital, where he was diagnosed with a rib fracture following medical tests and a forensic examination.
