Hungary’s prime minister on Wednesday hailed the apparent election victory of Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate and his political ally.
On Facebook, Viktor Orban posted a photo of himself in front of a TV screen showing US vote counting, with the caption: “Towards a beautiful victory.”
Addressing supporters in Florida, Trump hailed his “magnificent victory.”
Trump is currently ahead of Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris in the race to reach 270 Electoral College votes, the number needed to become president, having racked up 267, according to The Associated Press.
Fox News has already declared him the victor.
Trump and his Republican Party have frequently lauded Orban and his style of governance, and the Hungarian leader has showered Trump with praise.
The win would make Trump only the second US president to serve non-consecutive terms, following Grover Cleveland, who served two terms in the late 1800s.
