A knife attack in the Netherlands’s port city of Rotterdam killed one person and injured another, local media reported on Thursday night.

The deadly incident, during which the perpetrator was also injured, took place around the Erasmus Bridge, according to the public broadcaster NOS.

Police sources revealed that the perpetrator initially attacked a person in the parking garage under the bridge. He then walked upstairs and stabbed someone else, who did not survive the attack.

People sitting on the terrace of a restaurant chased the attacker and eventually overpowered him along with the police who were already around the scene, according to police.
