'Last day of action': UK climate group Just Stop Oil stages final march in London
Hundreds of JSO activists, their supporters hold their final march in central London, concluding 3 years of disruptive action

LONDON
Climate group Just Stop Oil (JSO) held their final demonstration in London on Saturday, following three years of action to force the British government to commit to ending new fossil fuel licensing.
Hundreds of JSO activists and their supporters held their final march in central London after they gathered in St James' Park wearing the group's signature orange vests.
The decision to stop public protests came after the group announced last week that they would cease disruptive protests.
"Three years after bursting on the scene in a blaze of orange, at the end of April we will be hanging up the hi vis," JSO said in a statement in March.
The group claimed their initial demand to end new oil and gas has now been incorporated into government policy, "making us one of the most successful civil resistance campaigns in recent history."
"If it ain't sustainable, it's suicidal" was among many signs carried by the group during the rally as they have been opposing using fossil fuel and licensing new oil and gas explorations.
Since its founding in February 2022, Just Stop Oil has become known for high-profile disruptive actions ranging from blocking roads to spraying orange paint on artworks and at sporting events. According to reports, the group's supporters have been arrested 3,300 times and imprisoned 180 times over the course of their campaign.
