Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Saturday that he will meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Monday to discuss the delivery of Leopard tanks to Ukraine to bolster its efforts in the war against Russia.

Morawiecki told Polish radio station RMF FM that he is planning to go to Berlin.

Asked whether he could convince Scholz to give the green light to the delivery of the battle tanks, he said: "I have no idea."

He added that even if Germany does not give a negative response, the actual decision process could take a long time.

"These are processes that require longer discussion, but the pressure must go on," he continued.

"As part of an international coalition, we are ready to deliver a squadron of Leopard tanks to Ukraine," Polish President Andrzej Duda said on Wednesday.

Germany plays an important role in the delivery of Leopard tanks to Ukraine as the approval of the Berlin government is required for countries that buy weapons from Germany to export these weapons to a third country.
