BELGRADE, Serbia

Slovenia, an EU country, has once again extended its controls at land border gates with Croatia and Hungary due to a “security risk” posed by “migration” and “terrorism.”

“The modalities and intensity of the temporary border control measures at internal borders will continue to be targeted and focused on the prevention of terrorism, extremism and cross-border crime,” the Slovenian government said in a statement.

Slovenia’s border controls initiated with other EU members Hungary and Croatia on Oct. 21 have now been extended until June 22, 2024.

Previously, Slovenia had extended controls at land borders until Dec. 21.

Last week, the Italian government announced that it extended border controls with Slovenia until Jan. 18, 2024.
