Top Ukrainian diplomat, EU foreign policy chief discuss support, cost of war for Russia
Kyiv, EU strengthen cooperation amid new sanctions and UN actions

ISTANBUL
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha on Wednesday held talks with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, discussing European support for Ukraine and measures to increase pressure on Russia.
“I spoke with @KajaKallas to thank the EU for its firm solidarity: EU leadership and College visit to Kyiv, #FAC, the 16th sanctions package, joint action at UNGA,” Sybiha wrote on X.
He added that their discussion focused on efforts to raise the cost of war for Russia and enhance the self-sufficiency of both Ukraine and Europe.
The EU recently adopted its 16th package of sanctions against Russia, targeting key sectors of its economy and individuals involved in its war on Ukraine.
The move came as the war completed its third year, with EU officials emphasizing the need to weaken Moscow’s ability to continue its military campaign.
