Turkish deputy foreign minister meets delegation from Icelandic parliament

ISTANBUL/ANKARA

Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay met with the delegation of the Foreign Affairs Commission of Iceland's parliament.

"During the meeting, bilateral relations and current regional issues were discussed," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on X Thursday.

Also, Fuat Oktay, the chair of the Turkish parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, also met with head of the Icelandic parliament’s Foreign Affairs Commission, Dilja Mist Einarsdottir, and the accompanying delegation.

Emphasizing that they attach importance to cooperation and coordination with NATO allies, Oktay said he believes that parliamentary diplomacy is an element that complements intergovernmental relations.

He expressed his gratitude to Iceland for being one of the first countries in its region to recognize Palestine.
