BERLIN

Two Eurofighter training jets were downed on Monday in Mecklenburg Vorpommern state in northeastern Germany, after a mid-air collision, according to local media.

One pilot was rescued alive, while another remains missing as search efforts continue.

The crash, also confirmed by the German Defense Ministry, occurred over Malchow city with the aircraft falling into forestland.

The pilot of a third jet, who witnessed the crash, saw the two pilots eject with parachutes.
