Ukraine reported on Monday that Russian forces are continuing their efforts to advance toward the city of Pokrovsk, situated about 66 kilometers (41 miles) northwest of Donetsk, which is currently under Moscow’s control.

“I work in the hottest areas of the Eastern Front. The enemy does not pay attention to the rather high level of losses and continues to rush in the direction of Pokrovsk,” Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Telegram.

Syrskyi noted that fierce clashes are ongoing between Ukrainian and Russian forces near the settlements of Krasnohorivka, Prohres, Zalizne, Pivnichne, and Chasiv Yar in the eastern Donetsk region.

He also mentioned that Russian forces are persistently attempting to capture the cities of Stelmakhivka in the eastern Luhansk region and Makiivka in the Donetsk region, and are trying to seize the islands of the floodplain on the left bank of the Dnieper River.

Additionally, Syrskyi said Ukrainian positions in Ivanivske and Klishchiivka remain under attack.

Syrskyi outlined several measures Ukraine could take to counter Russia’s offensive, including maximizing the effective use of all available weapons and ammunition.

Russian authorities have not yet commented on Syrskyi’s remarks.
