Ukraine says blockade at a border crossing with Poland over

ISTANBUL

Ukraine on Monday announced that a blockade in one of the country’s border crossings with neighboring Poland has ended.

“The blockade of the Yahodyn-Dorohusk checkpoint by Polish protesters is over. Stable truck traffic has been restored since 2 PM. 15 vehicles have crossed into Ukraine,” Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov wrote on X.

Kubrakov said that the country’s Infrastructure Ministry, together with the Ukrainian Embassy in Poland, had been working on ending the blockade at the border crossing which lasted for more than a month.

“We held dozens of meetings and negotiations at all possible levels. It was a difficult job, but it is not over yet. The border must be fully unblocked, and further blockages will not be allowed,” Kubrakov further said.

“We will continue to work, considering the interests of our carriers and the state,” Kubrakov said, adding that his country is grateful to European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean and Magda Kopczynska, the director-general for Mobility and Transport at the European Commission, for their support and cooperation.

On Nov. 6, Polish truckers launched a blockade at the country's border crossings with Ukraine after the EU decided to liberalize transit rules for Ukrainian carriers.
