ISTANBUL
Tropical Storm Jerry developed over the central Atlantic Ocean’s tropical waters, the US National Hurricane Center announced Tuesday.
"Jerry is forecast to pass near or just north of the northern Leeward Islands Thursday night and Friday. Interests there should monitor the progress of the storm as there is a risk of wind, surf, and rainfall impact," it said in a statement.
Watches may be needed for parts of the area "later today or tonight," it added.
Jerry is the tenth named storm of the season.
