Long-term drought pushes summer river flows in Europe to lowest levels since 1992
The share of land in Europe exposed to very strong heat stress this summer reached a record 52%. Due to prolonged drought, European rivers recorded their lowest summer flows since records began in 1992. The Rhine, Danube, Po, Loire, Rhône and Seine rivers recorded record or near-record low flows in July and August.
