Oman reports 3 virus deaths as Morocco, Palestine register fresh infections
MUSCAT/RABAT
Oman confirmed three more deaths from the novel coronavirus on Sunday, while Morocco and Palestine registered fresh infections.
In a statement, the Omani Health Ministry said three people had died from COVID-19, bringing the country's death toll to 131.
A further 905 new infections were recorded over the last 24 hours, pushing the total cases to 29,471.
The country has so far reported 15,552 recoveries from the disease.
In Morocco, the Health Ministry reported 118 additional infections, taking the overall cases to 9,957, including 213 deaths and 8,249 recoveries.
In Palestine, Health Minister Mai al-Kaila said 43 people tested positive for the virus, pushing the total infections to 1,022, including five deaths, in addition to 594 recoveries.
Since originating in China last December, the pandemic has claimed over 464,500 lives in 188 countries and regions. The US, Brazil and Russia are currently the world’s worst-hit countries.
More than 8.8 million cases have been reported worldwide, while some 4.3 million patients have recovered so far, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
