The Israeli government on Thursday said it would start giving the fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to the most vulnerable in its population.
The dose will be administered after approval of the Health Ministry.
A research center in Tel Aviv announced on Dec. 27 that it has started test studies on the efficacy of the fourth dose of the vaccine.
A total of 6,000 people, including health workers, are expected to get the latest jab.
Due to the emergence of the new omicron variant of the virus, Israel has banned the entry of foreigners into the country.
