Kuwait records first case of omicron variant
European traveler coming from Africa tests positive for new coronavirus variant

KUWAIT CITY
Kuwait’s Health Ministry said Wednesday that it recorded its first case of the omicron variant of the coronavirus.
Spokesman Abdullah a-Sanad said in a statement that a European traveler, who came to Kuwait from an African country, tested positive for the new variant.
He said the passenger received two doses of an approved coronavirus vaccine.
The official explained that the traveler is subject to quarantine upon arrival to Kuwait, according to the protocols set forth by the Ministry of Health.
As of Tuesday, Kuwait recorded 413,555 cases of COVID-19, including 2,465 deaths, and 410,768 recoveries.
