Virus deaths continue to rise in Palestine

RAMALLAH 

The Palestinian Health Ministry on Thursday confirmed 24 deaths and 2,181 cases of the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours.

According to the ministry, the West Bank recorded 17 deaths and 1,595 cases, while Gaza Strip recorded seven deaths and 586 cases.

The current figures take the COVID-19 death toll in the country to 1,008 and raise infections to 119,414, including 91,898 recoveries.

The pandemic has claimed over 1.57 million lives in 191 countries and regions since last December.

Over 69.02 million cases have been reported worldwide, with more than 44.51 million recoveries, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
