More than 2.5 million Syrians have been forced to leave their homeland as a result of Syria's civil war, which is entering its fourth year this week, according to the U.N. Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
There are more than 962,000 Syrian refugees in Lebanon; 634,000 in Turkey; 584,000 in Jordan; 226,000 in Iraq and 154,000 in North Africa.
There are nearly 230 registered Syrians for every 1,000 Lebanese. Approximately 50,000 Syrians are awaiting registration in Lebanon and according to the government sources more than a million Syrians are currently on Lebanese soil.
Turkey has allocated 15 tent cities, one temporary reception center and six container cities in 10 of its provinces to Syrian refugees, according to Turkey's Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).
17.6 percent of Syrians in Turkey are between 4 years old or younger, whereas 43.6 percent are between 18-59.
Since the onset of the conflict in March 2011, Turkey has spent more than 1.7 billion Turkish lira (US$790 million) on Syrian refugees.
AFAD says around 2.5 million Syrians have been treated in hospitals in Turkey, and more than 10,000 babies have been born in these hospitals.
