GAZA CITY, Palestine

At least 20 Palestinians were killed in relentless Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to medics and witnesses.

Gaza’s Civil Defense Service said that its medics had recovered the bodies of nine people, including children, following a strike on a home in the Shejaiya neighborhood of Gaza City.

“An entire family was wiped out in this new massacre,” an eyewitness told Anadolu.

Three more people lost their lives in another strike on a home in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, a medical source said.

Five other people were killed in two airstrikes targeting a home and a tent sheltering displaced civilians in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, the same source said.

Another strike killed three more Palestinians in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.

Israeli army forces, meanwhile, continued to pound Jabalia amid a military operation into the area, according to witnesses.

Witnesses said bodies covered the streets across the Jabalia refugee camp as Israeli forces prevented medical teams from reaching the area.

According to an Anadolu reporter, the Israeli army has slapped a tight siege around northern Gaza from all directions, cutting it off from Gaza City.

Israel has continued its brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas last year, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.

Nearly 42,000 people have since been killed, mostly women and children, and over 97,300 others injured, according to local health authorities.

The Israeli onslaught has displaced almost the entire population of the Gaza Strip amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine.

Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
