China launches satellite for ‘disaster reduction’
Satellite aboard Long March-2C rocket was launched into space from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center
ISTANBUL
China on Wednesday launched a new satellite for “disaster reduction,” the state-run Xinhua news agency said.
It took off from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern Shanxi province.
Home-built Long March-2C rocket carried the satellite, which began its flight at 6.53 a.m. (2253GMT Tuesday) and has entered the orbit.
It was the 482nd mission by the Long March rocket series.
