Daily temperature in the Indian capital New Delhi soared to an all-time high on Wednesday, officials told Anadolu.

“The Mungeshpur weather station in Delhi today recorded maximum temperature of 52.3 C. It is the highest so far maximum temperature in Delhi,” Kuldeep Srivastava, an official at the India Meteorological Department, or Met office, told Anadolu.

Several other Indian cities on Tuesday saw temperatures crossing 49 C (120.2 F), with Churu in western Rajasthan state touching 50.5C (122.9F).

The Met office said “heat wave to severe heat wave” conditions are likely to reduce gradually over Northwest and Central India from Thursday.
