Ireland will hold snap parliamentary elections most likely on Nov. 29, the country’s prime minister announced Wednesday.

“It is my intention to seek the dissolution of the Dail (Irish Parliament) on Friday, and I hope we have polling day on Nov. 29,” Simon Harris told Irish Radio and Television (RTE).

Harris said he waited for the finance bill to be passed in parliament, which enables budget changes.

The premier added that he is looking forward to “putting our case to the people.”

According to RTE, the ruling coalition government led by Harris has been under criticism owing to a dispute between the coalition partners and not being able to address the worsening housing crisis.
