  • Massive explosion rocks port in southern Iran, kills at least 14

A massive explosion was reported at the Shahid Rajaee Port in southern Iran.

The death toll from a devastating explosion that rocked the sprawling Shahid Rajaee Port in southern Iran on Saturday has risen to 14, according to officials, with at least 750 others injured.

Interior Minister Eskander Momeni said the port and customs operational systems have not suffered any serious damage, so an order has been issued to resume loading, cargo clearance, and customs activities at the port.


  • Funeral of Pope Francis held in Vatican

The funeral of Pope Francis, attended by over 250,000 people who were joined by world leaders and royals, was held in Vatican.

The solemn funeral and moving celebration was presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, who was joined by some 250 cardinals, patriarchs, archbishops, bishops, priests, and consecrated religious people.

According to the Italian and Vatican sources, 160 delegations representing states, royal families, and international organizations, attended the funeral.

Following the funeral at the Saint Peter's Square in Vatican, Francis’ coffin was carried in procession to Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica in Rome, where he will be buried.


  • Trump, Zelenskyy meet at funeral of Pope Francis in Vatican

US President Donald Trump met with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the funeral of Pope Francis in Vatican City.

The two leaders greeted each other at the St. Peter's Cathedral in Vatican, spoke for several minutes, and then went out to the cathedral's square. Zelenskyy dubbed the meeting "good"

He added that they discussed a "reliable and lasting peace that will prevent another war from breaking out."

  • Estonia to boost defense spending to 5.4% of GDP amid rising security concerns

Estonia will significantly increase its defense spending to 5.4% of GDP over the next four years, as the Baltic nation moves to bolster its military capabilities amid heightened security threats from Russia, local media reported.

Andrus Merilo, commander of the Estonian Defense Forces (EDF), said the expanded budget will fund a range of additional military capabilities, including the procurement of more ammunition and advanced weaponry.

Merilo emphasized that the buildup is a response to the deteriorating security environment fueled by Russian aggression.

Barcelona captured their record-extending 32nd Copa del Rey title on Saturday night after a thrilling 3-2 extra-time win over archrivals Real Madrid.

Barcelona’s defender Jules Kounde netted the decisive goal in the 116th minute, slotting past the Madrid keeper.

King Felipe VI handed Barcelona the trophy, as they solidified their status as the most successful club in Copa del Rey history.
