Peru's National Police raided the residence of President Dina Boluarte on Saturday as part of a continuing corruption investigation, according to sources.

Police, accompanied by prosecutors, entered the residence in the capital, Lima, reportedly searching for luxury watches that were allegedly not declared.

Officials have yet to provide information on the approximately five-hour search.

Due to the lack of permission to enter the home, security forces broke the lock on the door under prosecutorial orders.

It was revealed that Boluarte was not present at home during the raid.

Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen expressed dismay.

"The political noise that is being made is serious, affecting investments and the entire country. What has happened in the last few hours are disproportionate and unconstitutional actions," he wrote on X. "President Dina Boluarte is in her residence inside the Government Palace and will provide statements to the Prosecutor's Office when summoned.”

The investigation dubbed "Rolexgate," has prosecutors probing allegations of illicit enrichment by Boluarte.
