Top government officials in the Philippines including President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. suffered a significant decline in their approval and trust ratings following the extradition of former President Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC) last month, according to the latest survey released by Pulse Asia.

The results showed that Duterte’s daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte, was the only official who saw a notable increase in her approval ratings, the Manila Times reported.

The survey was conducted from March 23-29 nationwide with 2,400 respondents.

Duterte is facing charges of crimes against humanity in connection with his so-called “war on drugs” that killed thousands of people while he was in office from 2016 to 2022.

In the survey, the incumbent president's approval ratings saw a double-digit decline, dropping from 42% in February to just 25% in March.

In contrast, Vice President Duterte's approval ratings climbed from 52% in February to 59%.

The approval ratings of other officials, including Senate President Francis Escudero and House Speaker Martin Romualdez, also declined.

Trust ratings followed a similar trend except for Sara Duterte, who was "the only top official with an improvement," said Pulse Asia.
