Turkish stock exchange closes Tuesday in the red

ISTANBUL

The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 9,451.58 points, down 1.29% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, after starting the day at 9,583.73, lost 123.25 points from the close on Monday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,437.74, while the daily high was 9,605.45.

As many as 88 indexes lost in value, while 11 closed the day with gains.

The total transaction volume reached 80.2 billion Turkish liras ($2.19 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.32 trillion liras ($228.9 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 36.4540 as of 6.35 pm local time (1535GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 38.3640, and the GBP/TRY traded at 46.2005.

The price of gold was $2,907.80 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $72.67.
