Turkish stock exchange up at open
BIST 100 index earns over 70 points at opening session
ISTANBUL
The Turkish benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 9.716,25 points, up by 0.74% or 71.23 points versus the previous close.
At the previous close, on Monday, the BIST 100 index fell by 0.5% to 9,645.02 points with a daily transaction volume of 104 billion Turkish liras ($3.19 billion).
The stock market was closed on Tuesday due to a public holiday in Türkiye to mark the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.
The US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) exchange rate was 32.5710 as of 10.25 a.m. (0725GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 34.8590, while the GBP/TRY rate was 40.5005.
The price of one ounce of gold was $2,323.60, and the barrel price of Brent oil was around $88.60.
