HAMILTON, Canada

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's event at US-based Hudson Institute think tank got canceled after a heated war of words with US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance Friday during a critical meeting at the White House.

The event titled "Securing a Lasting Peace in Ukraine" was slated to take place on Friday afternoon following the meeting with Trump.

"This event has been canceled. We apologize for any inconvenience," wrote the Hudson Institute on its website.

Zelenskyy was scheduled to take part in the discussion with the institute's president John Walters and address "US-Ukrainian relations, the state of the war, and the path forward for Ukraine."

No reason was given about the cancellation of the event, however, it comes after Zelenskyy's fiery exchange with Trump and Vance, who repeatedly accused the Ukrainian leader of being ungrateful for Americans' support in Kyiv's war effort.

The highly undiplomatic war of words lasted for roughly 10 minutes as Zelenskyy sought to defend his handling of the over three-year-long conflict with Russia.

Zelenskyy departed the White House following the public spat, and a planned signing ceremony for a deal on critical minerals and press conference were canceled.
