US stock market higher on Friday
VIX volatility index dives 5.2%

Major exchanges in the US stock market were higher on Friday.
The Dow Jones was up 145 points, or 0.37%, to 39,210 at 10.17 a.m. EDT (1517GMT). The S&P 500 jumped 42 points, or 0.8%, to 5,309.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, soared 182 points, or 1.1%, to 16,918
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, dove 5.2% to 12.11. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell 0.1% to 4.470%.
The dollar index lost 0.4% to 104.71, while the euro rose 0.36% to $1.0852 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in the greed, with gold adding 0.36% to register at $2,337 per ounce and silver increasing 1% to $30.43.
Oil prices were up by around 0.3%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $81.56 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $77.22.
