US stocks close in positive territory
10-year US Treasury yield rises 1.82% to 2.110%
ANKARA
US stocks closed Wednesday with moderate gains ahead of the Jackson Hole symposium Thursday.
Federal Reserve Chair Jarome Powell is expected to echo the hawkish stance of the central bank to tame inflation during his speech at the symposium on Friday.
The Dow Jones rose 61.12 points, or 0.19% to close at 32,970. The S&P was up 12.77 points, or 0.31%, to 4,141.
The Nasdaq gained 50.23 points, or 0.41%, to finish at 12,431.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 5.23% to 22.85.
The dollar index was flat at 108.54.
The 10-year US Treasury yield gained 1.82% to 2.110%.
Precious metals were mixed with gold rising 0.25% to $1,765 and silver losing 0.07% to $19.012.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading at $101.65 per barrel, up 1.43%, while US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was at $95.31, gaining 1.67%.
