13 Israeli law experts demand investigation into renewed assault on Gaza
Law experts want investigation into suspicions of committing war crimes in Gaza

JERUSALEM / ISTANBUL
A group of Israeli law experts has called for an investigation into a renewed assault on the Gaza Strip for suspicions of committing “war crimes” in the Palestinian enclave.
According to the Israeli daily Haaretz on Thursday, 13 law experts demanded Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and Military Advocate General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi to investigate renewed Israeli airstrikes on Gaza on suspicion of committing war crimes.
There was no immediate comment from Baharav-Miara or Tomer-Yerushalmi on the report.
Israel began a surprise aerial campaign on Gaza on March 18, and has since killed more than 1,160 victims and injured over 2,700, shattering a January ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
More than 50,500 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in Israel's military onslaught since October 2023, most of them women and children.
The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
