2 arrested for killing Turkish diplomat in Iraq
Wednesday's attack at restaurant in Iraq's Erbil martyred a Turkish diplomat
ISTANBUL
Two people have been arrested for martyring a Turkish diplomat in Iraq in an armed attack last week, the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) said Saturday.
According to a written statement by the Security Directorate of Erbil city, where the attack took place, the alleged attacker Mazlum Dag, who was identified two days ago, has been detained by security forces.
The statement also said that search efforts are ongoing for others involved in the attack.
Later in the day, Iraqi officials said in another statement that Dijvar Mamend Yusuf codenamed Muhammed Bisksiz, who helped Dag, was also arrested.
On Wednesday, Osman Kose, who was serving at Turkey's Consulate General in Erbil, was martyred in an armed attack at a restaurant. Apart from the diplomat, two Iraqi nationals sitting at the next table were also killed.
