Two children were shot dead by Israeli forces during their 18-hour military operation in the city of Jenin that involved destroying businesses, and demolishing homes, according to authorities.

The Israeli army withdrew from the city of Jenin and its camp on Wednesday after declaring “Jenin and its camp as a closed military zone.”

“Two children, aged 8 and 15, were killed by Israeli gunfire in Jenin,” the Palestinian Health Ministry said in a statement.

Earlier on Wednesday, Nidal Obeidi, the head of Jenin Municipality, informed Anadolu that Israeli forces are “surrounding several hospitals in the city, including the government hospital, amidst the sounds of gunfire, explosions, and the destruction of infrastructure.”

Obeidi added: “The destruction of streets and infrastructure has become a routine whenever the army enters the city and the camp.”

The army has also detained several residents, he added.
