Two people, including a Hezbollah member, were killed in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon, while the Lebanese group said it targeted Israeli military sites in the occupied Golan Heights and northern Israel.

In two separate statements, the Lebanese Health Ministry said a Lebanese man was killed in the Israeli airstrike on Beit Lif, while in the other airstrike on Al-Wazzani town, a Syrian national was killed.

Hezbollah later announced that one of its fighters, identified as Hussein Mohammad Mostafa, was killed in the Israeli attack on Beit Lif, bringing the number of Hezbollah fighters killed in the past few hours to four.

The new fatalities brought to 421 Hezbollah fighters killed in clashes with Israeli forces since Oct. 8, 2023, according to an Anadolu tally.

In a separate statement, Hezbollah announced attacking Israeli military sites, including a Katyusha rocket attack on the Tsnobar logistical base in the occupied Golan Heights, and a drone attack on the army’s Hadab Yaroun.

Fears of a full-fledged war between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah group have grown amid an exchange of cross-border attacks, especially after the July 30 assassination of senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut.

The escalation comes against the backdrop of a deadly Israeli onslaught on Gaza which has killed over 40,170 people since last October following an attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
