4 killed, 9 wounded in Houthi missile attack in Yemen's Taiz

Four civilians were killed and nine others injured Saturday in a Houthi missile strike in Taiz in southwestern Yemen, according to Yemeni media.

The government-run Saba news agency, citing medical sources, said a ballistic missile fired by Houthis hit a gathering of civilians on the Heijah al-Abd road in Taiz province.

The strike also caused material damage, the sources said, without giving further details.

According to local sources, the strike targeted passenger buses on the Heijah al-Abd road, which links Taiz province with neighboring Lahj province and extends to the southern city of Aden, the country’s interim capital.

There was no immediate Houthi comment on the report.

The strike comes as Taiz’s fronts have witnessed heightened escalation in recent days amid reciprocal attacks that began in July, ending a period of relative calm in Yemen since a UN-brokered truce in April 2022.
