RAMALLAH, Palestine 

At least four Palestinians were injured and 12 more were taken into custody by the Israeli army during its raids on towns and cities in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday.

The Israeli army conducted a series of raids in the cities of Nablus, Qalqilya, Tubas, Jenin, Ramallah, and Hebron, eyewitnesses told Anadolu.

They confirmed that the Israeli army raided Qalqilya, conducted house-to-house searches, and clashed with Palestinians who resisted the incursion.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a press release that its teams provided emergency treatment to four people injured by gunshot wounds in Qalqilya before transporting them to city hospitals for further care.

“Our fighters confronted the invading occupation forces with live ammunition and explosive devices on multiple fronts,” Al-Quds Brigades of the Islamic Jihad and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades of Fatah said in a joint statement.

The Israeli army also raided the towns of Hableh, Azzun, Jayus, and Kafr Laqif in Qalqilya province, and arrested at least 10 Palestinians, according to eyewitnesses.

Witnesses in Nablus reported that army forces entered several neighborhoods in the western part of the city, searched houses in Beit Iba, and deployed military reinforcements.

They also reported hearing occasional explosions.

Israeli forces also raided the Al-Irsal neighborhood in Ramallah, arresting at least two civilians, according to the witnesses.​​​​​​​

Tensions have been high across the occupied West Bank since Israel launched a deadly military offensive against the Gaza Strip which has killed nearly 37,400 people following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7 last year.

At least 548 Palestinians have since been killed and nearly 5,200 others injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied West Bank.

Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which in an interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
