Another Palestinian journalist killed in Israeli attack in Gaza as death toll rises to 193
Eman Shanti, broadcaster for Al-Aqsa Radio, killed in Israeli strike on her family’s home in Gaza City
GAZA CITY, Palestine
Another Palestinian journalist was killed in an Israeli attack in the Gaza Strip, taking the overall death toll since last year to 193, a local organization said on Wednesday.
The Palestinian Journalists’ Forum identified the new victim as Eman Shanti, a broadcaster for the local Al-Aqsa Radio, after an Israeli strike on her family’s home in Gaza City.
The forum condemned “international silence and the failure to protect Palestinian journalists to allow them to carry out their professional duties in accordance with international laws and humanitarian conventions.”
Israel has launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip that has killed over 44,800 people, mostly women and children, since a Hamas attack on Oct. 7 last year.
Last month, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on Gaza.
