Three civilians were killed Thursday -- and two others were injured -- in a drone strike carried out in Yemen’s central Al-Bayda province, according to a local government source.
“The strike, which we suspect was carried out by the U.S., targeted a vehicle carrying civilians near the western entrance of Al-Bayda’s Al-Sawmaah directorate,” the source told Anadolu Agency.
“The victims all hailed from Al-Sawmaah; one of them, Salim al-Manzari, was the former head of Aden’s drivers union,” he added, speaking anonymously due to security concerns.
Neither the Pentagon nor the Yemeni government has issued a statement on the reported drone strike.
In recent months, Al-Bayda’s Al-Sawmaah directorate has seen a number of similar drone strikes ostensibly targeting members of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group.
