Israel confirms fifth coronavirus case

JERUSALEM

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Israel rose to five, health officials there said Friday.

An Israeli citizen who quarantined on the Princess Diamond Cruise Ship in Japan is the latest to test positive for COVID-19, according to a statement.

The global death toll is more than 2,800, and China, where the outbreak originated, is the worst-affected, with greater than 78,000 cases and fatalities surpassing 2,700.

The World Health Organization declared the outbreak an international health emergency and said the global risk level remains high.
