BEIRUT
The death toll from Israel’s airstrikes against Lebanon since last October has reached 2,792, the Lebanese Health Ministry said Tuesday.
A statement reported that 12,772 people have also been wounded since hostilities began last October.
Israeli airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon left 82 dead Monday and injured 180 others, according to the ministry.
Israel has mounted a huge air campaign in Lebanon since late last month against what it claims are Hezbollah targets, in an escalation from a year of cross-border warfare since the start of Tel Aviv’s onslaught against the Gaza Strip. It also launched a ground invasion of Lebanon on Oct. 1.
