Israel reports launch of 6 rockets from Lebanon, drone from Syria
Sirens sounded across cities, including Caesarea, Acre, Haifa, and Upper Galilee
JERUSALEM
The Israeli army said on Friday that six rockets were fired from Lebanon toward Haifa Bay and Upper Galilee in northern Israel, and a drone was launched from Syria toward the Golan Heights and northern Tiberias.
The attacks, however, resulted in no casualties or material damage, according to an official statement.
In a statement on X, the Israeli army said: "Following activation of alerts in Upper Galilee and Haifa Bay, approximately five rocket launches were detected from Lebanese territory, some of which were intercepted, while others landed in open areas."
According to the Israeli daily Haaretz, sirens were activated across central Israel, including in cities such as Caesarea, Acre, Haifa, and Upper Galilee.
The report also noted that "following the alerts in Wadi Ara, Menashe, and Carmel, one rocket launched from Lebanon was intercepted."
Separately, the Israeli army announced on Friday that it had intercepted a drone that it claimed was launched from Syria.
Sirens were triggered across the occupied Golan Heights and northern Tiberias, reported Israel’s Channel 12.
The Israeli army said on X: “Following alerts activated in the Upper Galilee and southern Golan, the Air Force intercepted a drone that entered Israeli airspace from Syria.” No further details were provided.
This incident comes shortly after Syria’s state news agency SANA reported that an Israeli airstrike targeted a vehicle in Damascus’ Mezzeh neighborhood, killing two civilians and injuring three others.
Israel has mounted a huge air campaign in Lebanon since last month against what it claims are Hezbollah targets in an escalation from year-long cross-border warfare between Israel and Hezbollah since the start of Israel’s brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip.
Israel expanded the conflict this year by launching an incursion into southern Lebanon on Oct. 1.
