Israel is set to release 369 Palestinian prisoners on Saturday as part of the sixth exchange since the Gaza ceasefire took effect on Jan. 19.

In a statement, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office, affiliated with Hamas, said the released will include 36 prisoners serving life sentences and 333 detainees from Gaza who were arrested after Oct. 7, 2023. Twenty-four of the released will be sent abroad.

In return, Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced the names of three Israeli captives scheduled for release on Saturday as part of the swap deal.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said the release will be in "an appropriate manner" that reflects the Palestinian "culture and Islam teaching."

In the past five swaps, Hamas released 16 Israelis in exchange of 766 Palestinians released from Israeli jails, including women and children.

Hamas, which said it would delay the next release after accusing Israel of violations of the ceasefire agreement, on Thursday reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the deal as signed. Israel had said it would resume the fighting if the hostages were not freed.

The group said mediators from Egypt and Qatar had worked to resolve obstacles, describing the negotiations as "positive."

The truce has suspended the Israeli war that has killed more than 48,000 people and left the Palestinian enclave in ruins.
