The Israeli army carried out airstrikes in southern Lebanon following Hezbollah’s targeting of the Shtula settlement in northern Israel with rockets.
In a statement Thursday, the army claimed that the launchers used to fire the rockets were targeted.
The statement, which included footage of the airstrikes, also claimed that additional loaded and ready-to-fire launchers were hit alongside those targeting Shtula.
Shortly before, during talks held in Washington, DC between Lebanon and Israel, Hezbollah targeted northern Israel with rockets in response to alleged Israeli violations of a ceasefire, triggering sirens in Shtula.
The Israeli army said it intercepted the rockets.
The Israeli army launched intensive airstrikes on Lebanon on March 2 and occupied several towns in the country’s south. The Lebanese government said during this period that the number of displaced people in the country had exceeded 1,162,000.
US President Donald Trump announced Thursday that a 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel had been extended for another three weeks following a second round of high-level peace talks at the White House involving the Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors.
