Israeli army continues to cause 'further death, destruction and displacement' in West Bank: UN
'There has been a significant increase in the number of Palestinian children killed in the West Bank due to Israeli violence over the past 2 years,' says spokesman

HAMILTON, Canada
The UN on Tuesday reported that violence by Israeli forces in the northern areas of the occupied West Bank has led to "further death."
Citing the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), UN spokesman Farhan Haq said that "operations by Israeli forces continue in northern areas, causing further death, destruction and displacement among the civilian population.”
Haq reported that "tens of thousands of people, particularly those living in refugee camps, have been displaced due to these ongoing operations, depriving them of access to basic shelter and other public services."
"OCHA’s latest reporting also indicates that there has been a significant increase in the number of Palestinian children killed in the West Bank due to Israeli violence over the past two years, compared with the preceding 18 years since OCHA began systematically documenting casualties in 2005," he added.
Saying that at least 224 Palestinian children were killed by the Israeli army or illegal Israeli settlers since January 2023, Haq said: "These include 11 children killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of 2025, including six killed in airstrikes."
The Israeli army has launched military operations in Jenin, Tulkarem, and Tubas in the northern West Bank since Jan. 21, killing more than 30 Palestinians and displacing thousands of people.
The escalation follows a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal in Gaza on Jan. 19 after more than 15 months of Israeli bombardment which has killed nearly 48,200 Palestinians and devastated the enclave.
Since the war began on Oct. 7, 2023, Israeli forces and settlers have killed at least 910 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
