JERUSALEM

The Israeli army said Sunday that 10 rockets were launched from Lebanon towards northern Israel.

The army issued a statement saying it carried out attacks inside Lebanese territory in response.

The armed wing of the Palestinian group Hamas, the Al-Qassam Brigades, later announced that its fighters in Lebanon bombed the Nahariya settlement north of occupied Palestine with 16 rockets “in response to the occupation’s crimes against our people in Gaza.”

Earlier in the day, the Lebanese Hezbollah group said in a statement that “after careful follow-up and monitoring, we discovered an Israeli infantry force in the Al-Malikiyah site and its surroundings (in southern Lebanon), so we immediately targeted it with appropriate weapons, inflicting confirmed casualties.”

The group said in another statement that it targeted the Al-Samaqa site in the occupied Lebanese Shebaa Farms with “appropriate weapons” and caused “direct hits” on Israeli forces.
